Dogs may be man’s bestfriend but right now, my parent’s dog is my biggest workout enemy. I’m pet-sitting while the ‘rents are out-of-town and the dog is seriously cramping my workout routine. I like to run 2-4 miles at the beach — the dog can’t because it’s too old for that duration and activity level. Instead, we’ve gone for 2-3 mile walks at the beach, which I know is decent exercise but I’m starting to get anxious about gaining weight. Walking doesn’t give me the same rush as running and doesn’t feel like an adequate workout. My clothes already feel tighter. It’s true, I could leave the dog at home and go back out for a run, but at same time, I know it’s a little obsessive — a 2-3 mile walk is perfectly good exercise.

I’m well aware of my negative body image. It’s a battle for many people who have experienced weight loss and shame for being overweight. I know that what I see in the mirror or when I compare my body to others it might not be accurate. It doesn’t change anything though. So all I can do right now is try my best to eat healthy and know that in just a few days, my normal workout regime can recommence.

I hate taking vitamins. I know I know they are good for you and stuff…but why does the pill have to be soooooo large. It feels like it is going to stuck in my throat and then I’m going to choke…and blah blah blah blah.

Based on this crazy fear of choking on vitamins – considering tons of other people take them everyday and are totally fine – I’ve been looking for alternatives. I’ve found two that I like:

1. Crystal Light packets on the go: Commonly found at the grocery store. Cute little powder packet filled with different types of vitamins. The different flavors have different focuses. My favorite is Berry.

2. Emergen-C: Commonly found at Trader Joe’s or other health food stores. It’s a little packet of powder that can be added to water. My favorite flavor is lemon.

Check them out! Let me know what you think…

Well, I finished week 6 of a once-a-week toning and sculpting class at my gym (I’m a Bally’s Total Fitness girl). I try my best to give new diets and exercise programs at least 6 weeks to see/feel results before writing it off.

The class hasn’t gotten any easier, but I’ve been told my arms looks great and they feel more toned. I’m going to increase the weight starting next week for the exercises for my back and legs — all the way up to 10 lbs (5lbs on each side)! Ha ha, I’m such a weakling… let ya know if my arms fall off!

Today marks the first day of my journey over the next 365 days. I’m going to get my body ready to incubate a child. It’s time. I’m 30 and married…but I’m scared that the pregnancy will “ruin” my body. I’ll get fat and my abs will be all bouncy. Sooooooooooo I’ve heard that if you are in optimal shape going in and not only is it better for the child to be but it’s better for the mom as well. Hence, my journey begins!

I have 2 main goals:weight-scale.jpg

  1. Get my weight fluctuation down to 110-115lbs, instead of 115-120lbs: 120 was an enigma of sorts… and so is/was 115. 110 is my new goal; it’s the weight at which I think I’ll finally feel happy but we’ll see if that’s true. Along with a lot of fat, I’ve also lost my curves, which I’ve complained a lot about recently.
  2. Tone my muscles: For about a year, I’ve mainly been focused on running and not doing any weight training. I love the overall slimdown my body has experienced but I’m 30 now and have to work harder to defy the gravity that’s pulling on my flabby areas.
